La Crosse, Wis. - Viterbo University men's basketball coach Wayne Wagner announced today that Cole Lewis (Eastman, Wis.) has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the V-Hawks in 2010-2011.

"As we have continued to get to know Cole and his family, we are constantly reaffirmed about his solid overall character as a person and as a student-athlete," commented Coach Wagner."He has been a leader in many respects throughout his development as a student-athlete at Prairie du Chien which no doubt will carry over to helping him adjust to the college experience. He obviously has been brought up and coached the right way all the way around."

Lewis comes to Viterbo after having a stellar athletic career at Prairie du Chien High School where he was a three sport athlete. As a basketball player, Lewis was an all-conference selection as a junior and a senior. He helped lead the Blackhawks to a share of the conference title as a senior and was the team's top rebounder as a junior. He also set the school's shooting percentage record as a junior as he shot 60% from the floor.

"As a player, Cole has a great combination of size and skill which projects well to the college level," stated Coach Wagner."He is only going to get better as he continues to grow in size and strength and improves upon his already solid skill set.He should develop into a very versatile big man that gives us different options with Cole and our team.We certainly look forward to working with Cole in the future."

Lewis did not only find success on the basketball court and he also had success as a football player and a track athlete. A first team all-conference selection in football, Lewis will play in the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association All-Star game in July. The track team MVP, Lewis was also an all-conference selection in track for performances as a high jumper and a triple jumper. Lewis has also had plenty of success in the classroom and will look to earn a major in Wildlife Biology and Natural Resources.
