Viterbo Softball Head Coach Andrea Tsilis announced today that Emmalee Eckardt (Altoona, Wis.) has signed a letter of intent to play for the V-Hawks in 2011.

Coach Tsilis had this to say about Eckardt, "EmmaLee is a great addition to our 2010-2011 roster. She is bringing power to our hitting line-up as well as a consistent glove in the infield. EmmaLee's charismatic personality, academics, and athleticism are a great addition to Viterbo University."

Eckardt, an infielder, has a huge bat and will bring versatility to the V-Hawks as she can play multiple positions. She's even spent some valuable time on the mound. During her sophomore season, Eckardt was named 1^stTeam All State, All Conference, and All District. Eckardt also holds the Altoona Softball record for most home runs in a season at seven. Viterbo is honored to bring that sort of talent to the diamond and the community.

Eckardt is eager to move on to the next level, "I am very excited and energized to be starting off a new chapter of my life, being a part of Viterbo's softball team is just the cherry on top. I hope to become an essential part of the team and find my role and follow through with it. Knowing that I will be able to continue my softball career at Viterbo is a great feeling." Eckardt will pursue a Nursing Degree here at Viterbo.
