La Crosse, Wis. - On Saturday night, Katina Mandylaris (Sr. - Melbourne, Australia) became the first women's basketball player in Viterbo University history to record 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career.

Mandylaris needed just six rebounds to eclipse the 1,000 rebound milestone and accomplished that late in the first half of Viterbo's 71-62 loss to William Penn University. She finished the game with her 10th double-double of the season as she had 14 points and 14 rebounds. The double-double was also her 31st of her four year career as a V-Hawk.

Mandylaris is no stranger to the V-Hawk record books as her names appears in it five times. Earlier this season, she became the 15th player in school history to score more than 1,000 points in a career. Mandylaris also etched her name in the record book this season by breaking the school's all-time rebounding record as she now has 1,008 rebounds in her career. Last season, Mandylaris may have had her best season as she broke three school records including rebounds in a season (360), rebounding average (11.6 rpg), and double-doubles (18).

Mandylaris does so much more than just rebound for the V-Hawks as she has been one of the V-Hawks top scorers all four seasons. So far this season, Mandylaris is third on the team in scoring by averaging 9.4 points per game. This season, she is also second on the team in assists (56) and third on the team in steals (29). Her numbers may be down this season but Mandylaris has truly been the heart and soul of the V-Hawks. Not just this season but her whole career. One only needs to look at the record book to realize what Mandylaris means to V-Hawk women's basketball.
