La Crosse, Wis. - Viterbo University Women's Soccer Coach Scott Pirnstill has announced his recruit signings for the 2010 season. The class will include 13 newcomers from Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, South Dakota, and North Dakota. 
 
This year's class includes Brook Borg, Anna Desten, Carley Esser, Lydia Gille, Kelsie Golabowski, Kaitlyn Hamann, Theresa Hostert, Ellen Jacobson, Rachel Klatt, Jamie Kohl, Haley Lassche, Danika Spitzer, and Stephanie Wisen.
 
Brooke Borg - Red River High School (Midfield/Defense)
 
Viterbo Women's Head Soccer Coach Scott Pirnstill announced today that Brooke Borg (Grand Forks, ND) has signed a letter of intent to play for the V-Hawks in 2010.
 
Coach Scott Pirnstill had this to say about Brooke, "Brooke has a physical presence out on the field. She is tall, strong, and athletic. I saw her at a coaching clinic and she was the first player I was drawn to out of 50 players on the field. She was skilled at using her physical advantages in a defensive role. She will definitely add strength and versatility to our back line."
 
Borg comes from Red River High School, and brings versatility and athleticism as a three sport participant in high school in golf, soccer, and basketball. On the soccer field, Borg is a two position player at Midfielder or Defender. Borg continues to show her work ethic and commitment to athletics as she has received most improved player in all three sports that she participates in. Borg is also academically inclined as she is involved in National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. She will be pursue a degree in Nursing.
 
Carley Esser - Oconomowoc High School (Forward)
 

Viterbo University women's soccer coach Scott Pirnstill announced today that Carley Esser (Oconomowoc, Wis.) has signed a letter of intent to play for the V-Hawks in 2010.

Esser joins the V-Hawks after having a stellar athletic career at Oconomowoc High School where she played volleyball, basketball, and soccer. A four year starter in soccer, Esser has earned all-conference honors each of her first three seasons. As a junior, Esser was recognized as a first team all-conference selection as well as her team's MVP. A forward, Esser was named second team all-conference as a sophomore and honorable mention all-conference as a freshman. Esser has also had success in the classroom as she is a member of National Society of High School Scholars. She will pursue a degree in biology during her time at Viterbo.

"I chose Viterbo University because of the tremendous education it will provide and the beautiful location," commented Esser. "Ibelieve it will be a great fit for me with its small, private atmosphere."

 
Lydia Gille - Vermillion High School (Goalie)
 
Viterbo Women's Head Soccer Coach Scott Pirnstill announced today that Lydia Gille (Elk Point, SD) has signed a letter of intent to play for the V-Hawks for the 2010 season.
 
"Lydia has a great attitude and willingness to succeed. Lydia has great physical attributes for a goalkeeper and will bring a lot to our goalkeeper program," said Pirnstill.
 
Viterbo goalkeeping coach Durnin had this to say: "Lydia brings the right mentality you need to have to be successful at the college level."
 
Gille, a solid Goal Keeper, is a two year starter at Vermillion High School. Gille has played for numerous teams including playing up in age brackets to get more time on the field. Gille has also received the Sportsmanship Award by her peers, making her an excellent teammate.
 
"I chose Viterbo for many reasons. Viterbo has plenty of opportunities to learn, get the grade, hang out, and succeed. I love the small class sizes, the teachers concern and care for the students, and the quaint togetherness of the college as a whole. Viterbo's common goal to succeed and sense of community is unlike anything I've ever seen. The soccer program has structured practices, study time, and expresses the meaning of "Team," which is what I like the most. I am so excited to be attending Viterbo in the fall!" Gille will pursue a degree in Biology here at Viterbo.
 
Kelsie Golabowski - Waukesha Catholic Memorial High School (Midfield)
 

Viterbo University Women's Soccer Head Coach Scott Pirnstill announced today that Kelsie Golabowski (Waukesha, Wis.) has signed a letter of intent to play for the V-Hawks in 2010.

Coach Pirnstill had this to say about Golabowski, "Simply put, Kelsie is an amazing player. She is a Super Club kid with a ton of high level club experience playing in many showcases and the MPL. In addition, she comes from a storied high school program that has turned out midfield players such as US National team player, Leslie Osborne. She has played on her high school varsity team since she was a freshman and has made 3 state appearances including runner up, and one state championship. This year they are the preseason favorite for the title again. She has it all for a central midfield player. She brings a great attitude and strong work ethic to our program."

Golabowski, a midfielder, joins the V-Hawks as a 3 year starter from Catholic Memorial High School. Her on-field honors include All Conference Honorable Mention, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Player of the Week, and NSCAA Academic All American Team. Golabowski has helped her team to three State appearances, including one State Title. There is no question about Golabowski's toughness as she has dealt with back injuries along with stress fractures during her sophomore season. Entering her final season, Golabowski has been nominated team captain and will look to conclude her high school career on top.

"I chose Viterbo because it is an awesome nursing school, in a beautiful area. The students and staff were very welcoming and showed the importance of students succeeding. I also will be able to play high level soccer with an amazing team and coach. Viterbo feels like the perfect fit for me, and I am looking forward to the next four years." Golabowski will pursue a nursing degree.
 
Kaitlyn Hamann - Winona High School (Goalie)
 
Viterbo Women's Head Soccer Coach Scott Pirnstill announced today that Kaitlyn Hamann (Winona, Minn.) has signed a letter of intent to play for the V-Hawks in 2010.
 
Coach Pirnstill had this to say, "Katie is a great local kid that has a ton of potential. We had an inside track with Katie because she played high school soccer for our assistant coach's (Shannon Wickstrom) Mom at Winona H.S. She is a goalkeeper with great athleticism, focus, and drive."
 
Hamann, who is exceptionally athletic, is a three sport athlete in high school as she has lettered in Basketball, Soccer, and Softball. Hamann will fit in well here at Viterbo; she is also in National Honor Society, Drama Club, and the Marching Band. Hamann will pursue a degree in Religious Studies.
 
Theresa Hostert - Joliet Catholic Academy (Goalie)
 
Viterbo Women's Head Soccer Coach Scott Pirnstill has announced today that Theresa Hostert (Lockport, Ill.) has signed a letter of intent to play soccer for the V-Hawks in 2010.
 
Coach Pirnstill had this to say about Hostert, "Tess is a goalkeeper from Joliet Catholic Academy. She struggled with some injuries early on in her high school career, but she is healthy again and looking forward to a successful senior year. Tess is very smart and very coachable. She is an all around fantastic fit for Viterbo. It will be a pleasure having her on our team."
 
A solid Goalkeeper, Hostert is a three year letter winner and a one year starter from Joliet Catholic Academy. Hostert is also involved in cross country as she was captain both her junior and senior seasons. On the soccer field, Hostert boasts a 100% saves record for games played in her junior season. Reliable as they come, she has overcome a fractured metacarpal (finger) and balanced her time well to accomplish many academic feats. Hostert is active in National Honors Society, National French Honors Society, French Club, Literary Magazine, Vocal Ensemble, and Drama Club. Hostert has also received Illinois State Scholar honors and will pursue a degree in Social Work here at Viterbo.
 
Ellie Jacobson - Janesville Parker High School (Midfield)
 

Viterbo University women's soccer coach Scott Pirnstill announced today that Ellie Jacobson (Janesville, Wis.) has signed a letter of intent to play for the V-Hawks in 2010.

"Ellie is a tremendous student-athlete who will help add depth to our midfield," commented coach Pirnstill. She has a great work ethic and drive which is why we feel she will be successful here at Viterbo."

Jacobson comes to Viterbo after finishing her high school career at Janesville Parker High School. A three year letterwinner, Jacobson was named team captain this spring. As a junior, she was named her teams most dedicated player and then as a sophomore, she earned the teams most dedicated award. Soccer was not the only reason that Jacobson chose Viterbo University. A National Honors Society member, Jacoboson will pursue a degree in Viterbo's new Clinical Laboratory Sciences program.

"I chose Viterbo because I love the size of the campus," stated Jacobson. "The school offers the major I want to pursue as well as class sizes that allow for one on one time with professors."

 
Rachel Klatt - Barron High School (Defense)
 
Viterbo Women's Head Soccer Coach Scott Pirnstill announced today that Rachel Klatt (Barron, Wis.) has committed to play soccer for the V-Hawks in 2010.
 
According to Coach Scott Pirnstill, "Rachel is a solid defender. She has excellent strength, work ethic, and drive. She will add much depth to our defensive line. She is a great communicator and leader and will bring many intangibles to our team."
 
Klatt, a defender, joins the V-Hawks after as a 3 year starter from the Barron Bears. On the field, Klatt was voted best defensive player by her peers. Klatt was also the captain of her Volleyball team. A fierce competitor, Klatt has overcome 3 knee-cap dislocations in her athletic career.
 
Off the field, Klatt is heavily involved with other extracurricular activities as well. Klatt participates in band, choir, FFA, FCCLA, and National Honors Society. Klatt's attitude and work ethic will fit right in at Viterbo, as she will pursue a degree in nursing.
 
"I never played soccer until my freshman year of high school. I just wanted to keep playing, that's why I decided to try for a position on a college team. Because of Viterbo's outstanding nursing program I chose them academically, never expecting to be able to play soccer for them. I'm very excited to start playing next year." Klatt will join the V-Hawks this coming fall, after finishing her senior year of high school this spring.
 
Jamie Kohl - Prarie Ridge High School (Forward)
 
Viterbo Women's Head Soccer Coach has announced today that Jamie Kohl (Cary, Ill.) has signed a letter of intent to play soccer for the V-Hawks in 2010.
 
Coach Pirnstill is excited to add Kohl to the team, "Jamie is a fantastic pick up for Viterbo. She comes from the Super Club, Crystal Lake Force, who finished the 2009 season ranked, 5th in the state of Illinois. She, like our other Super Clubers, have a ton of high level playing experience. She has played all over the US and also participated in the MPL. She adds a new dynamic on the outside with her pace and ability to get forward. She should have an immediate impact as a flank player."
 
In addition to her playing experience for Crystal Lake, Kohl has been a 4 year starter for her high school varsity team at Prairie Ridge high school. Kohl is as versatile as they come, she can play all over the field at forward, midfield, or defender. Kohl has also had much success with her club team, Crystal Lake Force. The Force has been successful at the state and Midwest level and reached a ranking in 2009 as high as #4 in the state.
 
After her senior season this spring, Kohl will fit right in at Viterbo University, "I felt that Viterbo University was the best fit for me both academically and athletically. I love the campus, the coaching staff and the small sized classes."
 
Haley Lassche - White Bear Lake High School (Midfielder)
 
Viterbo Women's Head Soccer Coach has announced today that Haley Lassche (Hugo, Min.) has signed a letter of intent to play for the V-Hawks for the 2010 season.
 
Coach Pirnstill has this to say, "Haley is a player I have been watching for a while. I first saw her play on the Viterbo fields in a Premier club match last year. She too is a Super Club kid from Woodbury Eclipse and has participated in the MRL. She will be a definite success at the colligate level. Her high level playing experience will help her greatly. She is great outside player that can attack and defend. She has excellent pace and understands her position very well. She likes to take players on 1 vs. 1 and create dangerous situations for the opposition."
 
Lassche is a 3 year starter for the White Bear Lake high school soccer team. She helped her team to the state sectional final, where they lost to the #2 preseason ranked high school in the nation, Woodbury. She has been named as a 4AA All Tournament Player and was also All Conference Honorable Mention during her Jr. Campaign. Lassche, a midfielder, sees the field very well and has participated for a number of years in the Minnesota summer Premiere Leagues. Her club team, Woodbury Eclipse, has had a lot of success in the Midwest Premier League. An academic standout, Lassche is also involved in National Honors Society and on the Honor Roll. Lassche will fit right in at Viterbo both on and off the field.
 
Lassche had this to say about Viterbo, "I have chosen Viterbo as my college of chose because during my visit I felt that Viterbo was not only the right size school for me but the people there were extremely friendly. Furthermore, I plan on studying in the health field to obtain a nursing degree and I know that Viterbo has a great program. During the summer of 2009 Scott Pirnstill asked me to visit Viterbo and we both decided that the V-Hawks would be a great fit."
 
Danika Spitzer - Red River High School (Forward/Midfield)
 
Viterbo Women's Head Soccer Coach Scott Pirnstill has announced today that Danika Spitzer (Grand Forks, ND) has signed a letter of intent to join the V-Hawks for the 2010 season.
 
Coach Pirnstill had this to say about Spitzer, "Danika is really fast! Danika has the ability to open up defenses with her blistering pace. She loves to take players on 1 vs. 1 and has the potential to really change the tempo of a game. She will add a lot of options for us during the season. It will be interesting to see how teams cope with her speed."
 
Spitzer, from Red River High School, is a two sport athlete, and has lettered four times in both Soccer and Golf. She is also heavily involved academically as she is involved in DECA, Student Council, and Students Today Leaders Forever. On the soccer field, Spitzer is a speedster and plays mostly up top at Forward and Midfield. She has great ability to stretch the field and will fit right in here at Viterbo both on and off the field.
 
"I went to a soccer camp in Bemidji, Minnesota and I met with the soccer coach and learned more about Viterbo. I learned Viterbo has a great nursing program and a soccer program that I could participate in. I also went to visit and tour the campus. I was impressed with the city and the University. I liked the idea of small class sizes and more one on one interaction. I am looking forward to attending Viterbo in the fall!"
 
Stephanie Wisen - Lincoln High School (Forward)
 
Viterbo Women's Head Soccer Coach announced today that Stephanie Wisen (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) has signed a letter of intent to play soccer for the V-Hawks in 2010.
 
"Steph is a natural goal scorer. I have known about her for a couple of years. She was the second leading scorer in her conference as a junior and all-state. She was also 1 of only 4 players selected unanimous first team all conference last year. She is very physical and tenacious and has a ton of speed. She has an amazing competitive drive to win. Even more notable was her conference leading 10 assists. She has good tactical awareness and she knows where to be on the field at the right time. She will really help us up top."
 
An outstanding athlete, Wisen is a two sport Letterwinner in Basketball and Soccer. On the soccer field, Wisen is a seemingly unstoppable force at the forward position. In 2008, she was all conference honorable mention as she scored 14 goals and added 4 assists. In 2009, Wisen was 1st Team All Conference by unanimous decision along with an All State Honorable Mention award. That year, Wisen was at her best as she scored 20 goals and had 12 assists for all matches.
 
"I chose Viterbo University primarily because Ifeel comfortable withthe small campus and the soccer program. I believe I canaccomplish my educational goals at Viterbo." Wisen will join the V-Hawks this coming fall after her final season at Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.
