
La Crosse, Wis. - Rachel Schalow (Fr. - Marshfield, Wis.) led the Viterbo Women's Bowling Team to a seventh place finish out of 16 teamsat the annual Leatherneck Classic bowling tournament in Rock Island, Ill. over the weekend.
Schalow finished tied for fifth place in the individual portion of the event, earning a spot on the all-tournament team.She averaged 195.3 over six games. "As Rachel gets more and more comfortable with college life she's getting better and better," said V-Hawks Head Coach Jim Socha."She has plenty of help too.Kendra Bundy (Fr. - Tomah, Wis.) and Megan Jirsa (Fr. - La Crosse, Wis.) have also had top five finishes this season," said Socha. "Plus Sam Willingmyre (Fr. - Gurnee, Ill.) and Kaila Martin (Fr. - Ringle, Wis.) have been very solid. And Nikki Emberson (Fr. - Dekalb, Ill.) has really giving us a spark coming in off the bench."
Meanwhile the Viterbo men finished 15th out of 30 teams at the Leatherneck Classic. Jade Lucas (Fr. - Marshfield, Wis.) was the V-Hawks top finisher in the individual competition finishing with an average of 190.8."We struggled a little bit on Saturday, but came back strong in the baker games on Sunday," commented Socha.
Next action for the V-Hawk bowling teams is the NAIA Baker Challenge in January."We'll be bowling nothing but baker games all weekend. A great format for our men and women," stated Socha.
