2017 North Star All-Conference Teams

MADISON, S.D. – With the conclusion of the regular season, the North Star Athletic Association announced the All-Conference teams and the Viterbo University baseball team had a trio recognized. Ethan Bell (SR/Jacksonville, Fla.) earned Second Team honors while Mannie De La Rosa (SR/Bellflower, Calif.) and Austin Stibbe (FR/Minneapolis, Minn.) were named Honorable Mention All-Conference.

Bell put together an impressive senior season and shined in conference action. The senior finished the regular season hitting .323 with a .538 slugging percentage after leading the team with 17 extra-base hits. Against NSAA opponents, Bell led the team with a .394 average and 18 runs batted in. The Jacksonville, Florida, native appeared in 42 games and set career-highs in hits (42), runs (24), doubles (10), RBIs (27), triples (3), and home runs (4).

De La Rosa has been a consistent leader all season for Viterbo, leading the team in batting average (.381), hits (53), runs scored (29), and doubles (11). The senior also drew 32 walks for an on base percentage of .503, which ranked third in the conference. The Bellflower, California, native recorded a reached base safely streak of 32 games, 20 games longer than the next closest player. Additionally, De La Rosa had a 19-game hitting streak from March 16 to April 13 where he hit .475. In the final series of the regular season, De La Rosa went 9-for-15 with multiple hits in all four games as he was named NSAA Player of the Week.

Stibbe came on strong as a freshman and made an immediate impact out of the bullpen, leading the team and raking second in the NSAA with five saves. In a stretch from March 22 to April 23, Stibbe made 10 appearances, totaling 10.0 innings and not allowing a run as he worked into four saves. In 19.0 total innings, Stibbe struck out five batters while walking just one.
