La Crosse, Wis. - Two late second half goals helps Viterbo overcome deficit and earn a 2-2 tie with Midwest Collegiate Conference foe Iowa Wesleyan College.

After falling behind by two goals it did not look good for the V-Hawks as they battle to try and earn a home playoff game in the first round of the MCC tournament. Junior Anastasia Jensen (Anoka, Minn.) put limited hope back to the V-Hawks when she scored on a shot from 25 yards out. Viterbo would then continue to put more pressure on the Tigers defense as they were able to get amble scoring opportunities down the stretch.

After a Tigers foul just outside of the corner of the penalty box, the V-Hawks would set up their offense. Freshman Emily Williamson (Rochester, Minn.) took the free kick and put it in the middle of a crowd of V-Hawk and Tiger players. Freshman Lauren Neet (Plover, Wis.) connected on the loose ball and put in the back of the net with just over three minutes to go.

Regulation would end with the score tied at 2 but it seemed as though maybe the V-Hawks had some momentum. In the first overtime, neither team would get a great scoring opportunity as Iowa Wesleyan had the only shot of the period. A sense of urgency could be felt in the second overtime as each team would fire off three shots a piece. Unfortunately, the V-Hawks were unable to capitalize but neither were the Tigers as the game ended in a 2-2 tie.

Viterbo finished the game with a 13-12 advantage in goals but Iowa Wesleyan did have the advantage in corner kicks 8-4. Neet and fellow freshman Rita Rabb (La Crosse, Wis.) led the V-Hawk offense with three shots a piece. Neet's goal is her team leading seventh of the season. Sophomore Stephanie Stacey (New Berlin, Wis.) played all 110 minutes in goal for the V-Hawks recording eight saves.

The outcome sends the V-Hawks to 6-9-1 overall and 3-3-1 in MCC action while the Tigers fall to 7-8-3, 1-5-1. Viterbo now needs to win on Saturday versus Grand View University along with an Ashford University loss or tie to earn a home playoff game. Viterbo will host Grand View University in the final MCC game of the regular season on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
