La Crosse, Wis. - On Sunday October 18, games 1 and 2 of the annual "Battle for Blood" fall series will begin with first pitch of game 1 scheduled for 1:00 PM at the Viterbo Outdoor Athletic Complex.

The "Battle for Blood" series consists of an intra-squad scrimmage series in which team members from the losing team participate in a campus blood drive service activity. The 2009 version will be a 7 game series, with teams being chosen through a draft. "Battle for Blood" team coaches are current Viterbo players who were nominated by their teammates to lead their respective teams. The Viterbo baseball coaching staff takes a step back and lets the players do battle.

2009 "Battle for Blood" series team coaches include Nick Lenzendorf and Shane Michiels who will lead the Cardinal team and Kyle Dreger and John Pogatchnik who will lead the Silver team.
