
La Crosse, Wis. - Junior Derrick Meier (Chilton, Wis.) shot an even par 144 to earn medalist honors at the Ronnie Eastman Invitational and help lead Viterbo University to a second place finish. UW-Eau Claire shot a two day total of 591 to win the tournament for the second straight year.
Meier was consistent both days of the tournament as he shot even par 72 both days. After shooting a 77 on the first day, Jason Jorgensen (So. - Onalaska, Wis.) cut six strokes off on day two to finish in a tie for sixth place with a 148. Scoring third for the V-Hawks was freshman Shawn Keenan (Embden, Maine) who shot a 155 (79, 76) and finished tied for 17th. Rounding out the scoring for the V-Hawks was Billy Pearse (Fr. - Holmen, Wis.) and Adam Dickinson (So. - Edgerton, Wis.) with a 156.
Viterbo's second team played very well as they had a strong performance from freshman Jordan Kerska (Sparta, Wis.) who shot a 157, tying him for 23rd place overall. Josh Kohnhorst (So. - Tomah, Wis.) shot a 167 while Justin McConnell (Jr. - Ripon, Wis.) shot a 169. Also playing for the V-Hawk Silver team was John Tierney (Jr. - Waukesha, Wis.) who shot a 175 while Tony Berg (Fr. - West Salem, Wis.) shot a 182.
As a team, Viterbo cut ten strokes off of day one's result with a 295 on day two to finish with a two day total 600. UW-Eau Claire shot an impressive 286 on day one and struggled on day two with a 305. Finishing third was Midwest Collegiate Conference foe St. Ambrose University with a 606.
Viterbo has one more tournament this fall as they travel to Silvas, Ill. to play in the NAIA National Preview Invitational October 15th and 16th.
