
La Crosse, Wis. - Lauren Lindsley (Fr. - Green Bay, Wis.) shot a two-day total 170 to earn medalist honors and help lead Viterbo University to a first place finish at the Viterbo University Invitational played at the La Crosse Country Club.
Battling high winds, Lindsley followed up a first day score of 82 with a second day score of 88. Viterbo's number one golfer Chelsey McCoy (Fr. - Brookfield, Wis.) had a rough second day as she shot a 95 after shooting an 83 on Sunday. McCoy finished tied for fourth with teammate Chelsea Dunnum (So. - Viroqua, Wis.) as she cut six strokes off her first day with an 86. Senior Trish Peterson (Lewiston, Minn.) finished with a 187, good enough for ninth place. Amanda Kastenmeier (Jr. - Green Bay, Wis.) and Melanie Truax (Fr. - Trempealeau, Wis.) shot a 201, 202 respectively to finish 24th and 25th.
Viterbo's second team also played very well and got banner scores from Rhianna Nichols (So. - Tomah, Wis.) and Michelle Pauley (So. - Sparta, Wis.). Nichols shot an 86 on Sunday and a 97 on Monday to finish seventh overall while Pauley shot a 93/100 to finish tied for fifteenth overall. Also playing on the second team for the V-Hawks was Clare McCarthy (So. - Caledonia, Minn.) (95,104), Hannah Noel (Fr. - Onalaska, Wis.) (101, 103), and Melissa Klecker (Sr. - Hastings, Minn.) (107, 121).
As a team, Viterbo won the tournament with a 345 on day one and a 368 on day two. Finishing second was Waldorf College with a 743 (354, 389) while Grand View University finished third with a 744 (369, 375). Individually, Grand View's Amalia Meiji finished second with a 171 and Waldorf's Mallory Lovik finished third with a 172.
Viterbo will be in action next when they travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa for the Mount Mercy College Invitational this Friday and Saturday. The Lady V-Hawks will then finish the fall portion of their schedule October 10th and 11th at the Midwest Collegiate Conference Fall Challenge in Des Moines, Iowa.
