Rock Island, Ill. - The Viterbo University women's golf team finally got a chance to play on Saturday as their previous two meets were cancelled. The wait did not hurt the V-Hawks as they had a solid showing as they finished second as a team at the Augustana College Invitational.
Leading the way for the V-Hawks was a pair of freshman as Chelsey McCoy (Brookfield, Wis.) and Lauren Lindsley (Green Bay, Wis.) scored a 82 and a 83 respectively. McCoy finished tied for second while Lindsley finished fourth. Chelsea Dunnum (So. - Viroqua, Wis.) and Melanie Truax (Fr. - Trempealeau, Wis.) rounded out the scoring with a pair of 89's; good enough for eighth place. The four player total of 343 was good enough for second place and just four strokes behind team champion St. Ambrose University.
Also participating in the tournament but not counting towards the team score were: Hannah Noel (Fr. - Onalaska, Wis.) (91), Rhianna Niichols (So. - Tomah, Wis.) (95), Melissa Klecker (Sr. - Hastings, Minn.) (95), Amanda Kastenmeier (Jr. - Green Bay, Wis.) ( 98), Michelle Pauley (So. - Sparta, Wis.) ( 101) and Clare McCarthy (So. - Caledonia, Minn.) (112).
The V-Hawks will be in action next when they travel to Eau Claire, Wis. to play in the UW-Eau Claire Invitational September 5 and 6.
